SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 20 Ultra – Full Review

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a huge new addition to the Note line of phones and is an upgrade from regular Note 20. It is one of Samsung’s most premium phones and it is truly the best of the best in terms of performance, camera quality, and battery life. However, it is a bit pricy as well, but you do get extra features in return. The really cool feature is the S Pen of course, which you can make great use of. Especially now, that Samsung introduced some new additions to it.

The design has the iconic features of other Note phones. Samsung kept sharp corners, but this time in a more refined style, also the camera bump looks much more elegant than on previous versions. This is a massive phone, but it still fits in the hand nicely. It is also a bit heavier than its predecessors. The back of the phone is made out of Gorilla Glass Victus and it also doesn’t leave any smudges or fingerprints on the body, which is a common problem with other phones. The frame is made out of stainless steel and the front also comes covered with Gorilla Glass Victus which offers solid protection to the phone. This is the toughest kind of glass there is, as it is resistant to scratches and drops from up to 6.5 feet or 2 meters. The phone also offers water resistance and dust resistance.

The phone has a large 6.9 inch dynamic AMOLED screen with a QHD resolution at a 60 Hz refresh rate. You also have an option of FHD at a 120 Hz refresh rate, which comes in handy when playing games. However, when the 120 Hz refresh rate is not required it will drop down to 60 Hz in order to save battery. You also get support for HDR10+ and an option for Always-on display mode, which some of you might find useful. The adjusting of brightness is just amazing, so you will have no problem seeing the screen even when it’s very bright outside. The colors look very accurate, which is another plus. You can also change color output in settings from normal to vivid if that is what you prefer.

The main feature here is the S Pen, which you will find on the bottom left side of the phone. In general, the pen works really well and it is also very accurate. It has almost zero delays for a seamless experience. It will feel very natural as if you were writing on a piece of paper. Samsung also added some new upgrades in a form of new air gestures that help you control the phone.

The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is equipped with the upgraded Snapdragon 865 chipset, which is paired with Adreno 650 graphics processing unit. Alternatively, it can be equipped with Exynos 990 chipset and have Mali-g77 MP11 graphic unit. Comparing the two, the Snapdragon is slightly better in terms of performance and battery life, however, regarding GPU there is basically no difference. Note 20 Ultra has 12 GB of RAM and is more than capable of carrying out every task smoothly. This includes gaming.

Note 20 Ultra has a triple camera set up. The phone is equipped with a 108 MP main camera, 12 MP ultra-wide camera, a 12 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and 50x hybrid zoom. Photos taken with the main camera have excellent detail, the colors are very accurate and the noise is reduced to a minimum. The quality in general is outstanding. The same goes for the telephoto camera which has higher native zoom than other models. Nighttime photography is also awesome and has a wide dynamic range. It also captures a lot of detail and has great color saturation. In low light photography, you might get reduced quality while using zoom, as it will just crop from the main camera. You also have the option of using night mode, which improves shadows and highlights.

As for the videos, you have an option of filming in 4K at 30 fps and 60 fps. Regardless of your choice, the videos look very good and the quality is decent. There really are no major complaints in this department. You also have an option of filming in 8K which gives you more detail, however, the file size will be considerably bigger.

The battery life is quite satisfying and the Note 20 Ultra is also more power-efficient. The phone is equipped with a 4500 mAh battery which can last about 100 hours on a full charge. It comes with a fast 25W charging adapter, which can have the phone from 0 to 100% in just a bit over one hour. You also get the option of fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Final thoughts

In conclusion, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is an extremely good phone. You will have a great time using it and you will be proud to call yourself its owner. The phone has a great camera setup, has many fun features, and performs really well with all kinds of tasks. Regardless of the use, it will do great. It is one of the best phones out there after all. So we would certainly recommend you the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
