Samsung Galaxy A71 is another Samsung mid-range phone. Unlike flagships, this one comes at an affordable price, which is certainly a benefit for your wallet. Furthermore, the phone doesn’t lack anything and is pretty competitive. It has a good-looking design and an excellent mid-range chipset.
A71 features a beautiful design with nicely shaped corners and back. This is a large phone, however, it feels quite secure in the hand. It feels very light and it’s also quite slim. Even though it is just a mid-ranger, the front is still covered with Gorilla Glass 3. This gives you certain benefits and additional protection. Still, both the back and the frame are made out of plastic. However, a nice glossy finish makes the back look as if it was glass. One thing missing here is waterproofing. So be careful around water with this phone.
Galaxy A71 features a 6.7 inch Super AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Like most of the other mid-rangers these days, A71 also has a Full HD resolution, which is 1080p. The pixel density you will find here is good – 393 ppi. The content here looks fine. The colours are accurate with really good contrast. Content appears sharp and brightness can be easily adjusted to your needs. One thing you will notice is that screen on this phone is actually flat and not curved as we can see on many other premium phones.
The phone runs on Snapdragon 730 chipset, which is paired with Adreno 618 graphic processing unit. This is actually one of the best mid-range chipsets out there. Naturally, the performance here is great. The phone can easily handle complex tasks and can support just about any game with no trouble at all. There are also no problems with overheating, so the gaming experience will feel very nice. As far as RAM goes, there are two possible versions on the market. You can get a version with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. Both are more than enough for an average user. For gamers, we do recommend you get a version with 8 GB of RAM. Furthermore, the phone has 128 GB of internal storage, which is more probably more than enough for most of you. In case it’s not and you do need more space, A71 features expandable storage, so there’s no need to worry about running out of space.
The cameras you will find here do a pretty good job a well. Galaxy A71 features a quad camera setup, which has an interesting L shape. Here we get a 64 MP main camera with PDAF, 12 MP ultrawide camera, 5 MP macro camera, and a 5 MP depth sensor. Photos taken with the main camera during the day are very sharp, have a wide dynamic range a lot of detail. There is very little, almost zero noise and the colours are more or less accurate. Low light photography looks quite okay. Highlights and shadows look nice and noise is reduced to a minimum. However, switching to an ultrawide camera during the night may reduce photo quality. Macro shots could be improved as well. Many shots come out blurry, because of fixed focus and that could be a little annoying.
As far as video recording goes, you are able to make 4K footages at 30 fps. You can also make videos at 1080p resolution which also looks quite nice and the overall quality is very satisfying. Videos taken during the day have a wide dynamic range, have a lot of detail, and are very sharp.
Galaxy A71 is equipped with a 4500 mAh battery. The endurance here is quite good. The phone can last over 100 hours on a full charge. This depends on the type of usage of course; however, it will get you through the day with no problem at all. Furthermore, the phone comes with a fast 25W charging adapter. It will make sure that your phone is back at full power in just a bit over 1 hour. On the other hand, there are no options for wireless charging or any kind of reverse charging.
To conclude, Samsung Galaxy A71 is a very good mid-range phone. It has a good battery life and a solid chipset that can handle just about anything. The cameras on this phone are good enough and the phone features a beautiful design. You get all that at a very affordable price. Therefore, this phone has our full recommendation.
