SAMSUNG Galaxy S10+ – Full Review

Samsung Galaxy S10+ is a more premium version of regular S10. This phone is bigger and carries some new additions. However, most of the features, especially design, remain the same. The phone is a bit older and is definitely not the newest flagship out there, but it can still perform really well and can carry out many difficult tasks.

In terms of design, the S10+ is almost identical to regular Galaxy S10. The only difference is that 10+ is bigger, which is just perfect for any of you that prefer bigger screens. Otherwise, the two phones look very much the same and are also made out of the same materials. The back is covered with Gorilla Glass 5 that curves into the aluminum frame, while the front is covered with slightly better and stronger Gorilla Glass 6, making this phone resistant to drops on hard and rough surfaces.

The display is more or less the same as on S10. Both phones feature a nicely curved dynamic AMOLED display with 1440p resolution. The difference is that 10+ is bigger and has an 6.8 inch screen. The phone has a 19:9 aspect ratio and has a support for HDR10+. There is also an always on display feature, which helps you keep track of time and notifications even when the phone is in sleep mode.

Regarding chipset and GPU units we have to say that they are exactly the same as on less premium version S10. In that terms, you don’t get anything new. The phone is equipped with Snapdragon 855 or alternatively Exynos 9820. They are paired with Adreno 640 or Mali-G76 MP12 graphic processing unit, however that depends on the chipset you get. Both combinations are very good as they feature high end components that make this phone very good for running all sorts of games and other difficult tasks. As for the RAM, Galaxy S10+ has 8 GB of RAM, which is also the same as on the regular version of S10 phone.

On the field of cameras, the major difference is that the S10+ has a dual selfie camera, which regular S10 doesn’t. That improves depth sensing and gives better results when taking selfies.  Otherwise the camera setup on the back remains the same. The phone features 12 MP main camera, 16 MP ultrawide camera and 12 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. You get fantastic results during the day. The photos are very sharp with a lot of detail. The dynamic range is great and the overall quality of the photos is superb. Using zoom does not affect quality in a major way and photos remain sharp. Night time photography is on a high level. The output is surprisingly good and you get a high quality shots with a lot of detail. However, when it’s too dark the quality will decrease. The videos taken during the day look fantastic. You can make 4K footages at 30 fps or 60 fps. Both options give you outstanding results. However, videos taken with telephoto camera at 60 fps can have reduced quality.

Battery life on this phone is surprisingly good. S10+ is equipped with 4100 mAh non-removable battery, which will last over 90 hours on a full charge. The charging speed is also pretty decent. You will have your phone at full power in about 1 hour, using the fast 15W charging. You also have an option of fast 15W wireless charging, and a really cool feature is the reverse wireless charging, which allows you to power other devices with your phone.

Final thoughts

Samsung Galaxy S10+ is a larger version of regular S10; however it is hard to determine if it is also better. The phone has some additions, but most of the features remain the same as on S10. So if you are not an advanced user, you might not benefit from this version and should probably stick to regular S10, otherwise you are just overpaying for your phone.
