5 Best Tablets for Fusion 360 in 2022 – Expert Reviews

Best Tablets for Fusion 360
Professional tablet for Fusion 360

3D printing technologies have revolutionized the engineering world. Just a decade or two ago, designers used to spend weeks constructing prototypes that now take only a few hours to complete. Even more surprising is that these 3D models can be designed straight from portable digital gadgets like tablets & phones.

Using parameter-based modeling is very important in engineering for a few reasons. The most obvious reason is that when you’re designing a physical part for the real world, you need to define its dimensions exactly. The CAD interface is full of buttons and toolbars that seem meaningless at first glance, but it becomes significantly less daunting once you grasp the fundamentals of the workspace.

Fusion 360 is easily the most advanced CAD software that’s free for hobbyists to use. You don’t need much previous experience with CAD or 3D modeling software to have your models printed professionally.

Autodesk Fusion 360 is available for Windows and macOS. Fusion 360 is free for hobbyists and enthusiasts, you only need to pay for it if you’re using it for commercial purposes.

With the accelerating advances in technology, many digital processes e.g. 3D modeling is now possible not only on computers but also on other digital devices like tablets.

If you just want to find out what tablet is the best for Fusion 360, look at the table below, or click here to scroll down to my detailed review of each of the selected tablets in the table.

What is the best tablet for Fusion 360?

There are many benefits to using tablets or other devices, as they give digital artists ways to shape their 3D models that would not be possible or extremely difficult with physical material. There are many tablets on the market these days, but only a selected few will be suitable for 3D object manipulation, as programs like Fusion 360 need high-performing hardware in order to function at their best. Before listing my chosen tablets for Fusion 360, I would like to point out that while all the tablets are very good for 3D modeling, they are only as good as the skill of the artist?

Detailed Review

Samsung Galaxy FE products are known to put emphasis on the features that fans loved the most at regular Galaxy models and bring them in a new improved package.

The Galaxy Tab S7 FE combines the strong points of both Galaxy S7 and S7 Plus from the previous year.

It feels just as premium when you hold it as the previous models. It has a unibody made out of brushed aluminum and a 12.4 inch TFT LCD display.

This could actually be considered as a downgrade as the previous flagships featured an AMOLED display. However the colors are very accurate, the blacks are quite deep for an LDC and the brightness is pretty high too. So in fact this is still a great display even for drawing where the colors should be as accurate as possible.

The two front speakers have Dolby Atmos support and are tuned by AKG so listening to music and or watching videos is an absolute pleasure. The quality of the sound is rich and clear, even at higher volumes.

While the Galaxy S7 and S7 Plus are both powered by Snapdragon 865 Plus the FE version features a less powerful mid-range Snapdragon 750G. Overall experience is still smooth but honestly, if you want the best performance the previous models are notably faster.

The tablet comes with Stylus support but the bundled S-pen is passive, not active. However, you still get all the features you will ever need. Let it be taking notes or drawing. The low latency of the pen makes it feel like you are drawing or writing on a real piece of paper. Impressive!

While the FE version cuts some corners it is much more affordable than the last year’s models. The Samsung Galaxy S7 FE is definitely one of the best tablets in terms of  “bang for the buck” and rightfully on the list of the best tablets for Fusion 360.

 Super AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+
This 14.6 ” Super AMOLED display delivers a 120Hz refresh rate with an excellent 1848 x 2960 pixels.

Fast charging (45W). Samsung fast charger gets the phone to 100% in 82 min

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is huge! It has a 14.6-inch screen and it also includes a pen and extraordinary specs. This is the best android tablet on the market right now and below we will look at the tabs details & it’s unique features.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra stands out with its 14.6”  Super AMOLED, 120Hz, HDR10+ display. It is just beautiful with absolutely great colors. The brightness works well in low light and it does really well in really bright light situations too.

Inside the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, you have the latest Qualcomm SM8450 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm). The amount of RAM is depending on which model you get. Here are the different versions: 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 16GB RAM.

Along the back we have two cameras – one is a wide-angle lens and the other one is an ultra-wide-angle lens. At the front, we also have a dual-camera setup, one of those is a wide-angle lens and the other one is an ultra-wide. These cameras can shoot up to 4K at 60 fps.

The stereo speakers sound fantastic and battery life, in general, is pretty solid. The capacity of the battery is about 7 hours of standard use. It is a big battery and it does, fortunately, support fast charging if you have a fast charger.

With no extra cost, you also get an S-pen. This is a really good pen. It’s pretty much the same pen we saw last year, but there is one important upgrade and that is the latency. They’ve knocked this down to two milliseconds. The latency does sound impressive and when you combine it with a 120 hertz refresh rate on the display, it should be imperceptible. The pen does have a battery for some extra bluetooth features. If the pen’s battery dies, it still works for all the basic drawing functionalities.

The tab also comes with the second screen feature. It allows you to use your galaxy tab as a second screen for your windows computer (mirror your display or to set it up as an extended display).

To conclude, this tablet fits the description of ultra. It’s not for everybody, it’s bigger & it’s heavier than other tablets. If you’re looking for something that you can just casually draw on it’s probably a little bit too big. The key audience is someone who wants a laptop replacement or at least the best laptop replacement that android can provide. The price seems expensive, but if look at everything you’re getting here, the quality of every little thing across the board whether we’re talking about the screen or the speakers or the drawing experience is phenomenal.

WHAT WE LIKED
  • Very good chipset.
  • Great battery life.
  • Amazing value for the price you pay
WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED
  • Pricey

Detailed Review

Apple iPad Pro 12.9 is a new front runner in the field of tablets. It is one of the best options you can currently get on the market. So take a few minutes and read the full review to understand why this is the best tablets for Fusion 360.

Build

As far as design goes, this tablet looks very aesthetic. This model is actually bigger than last year’s iPad Pro 11. It is also a bit heavier, too. However, being larger makes watching movies more enjoyable and it’s also much more convenient if you are using the tablet for work. Regarding its build, Apple iPad Pro 12.9 is mostly made out of aluminum, with a glass front.

Display

The tablet features a really good Liquid Retina XDR display that delivers the best results. You will see just how much of an improvement was made by Apple. This display is way better than any other LCD monitor. It can capture a higher level of detail, as well as brighter highlights and darker darks. Additionally, it also has a 120Hz refresh rate for that smooth effect.

Hardware & Memory

The tablet comes with a built-in Apple M1 and runs on an iPadOS 14.5.1 operating system, which can even be upgraded to iPadOS 15.3 if that’s what you require. Apple iPad Pro 12.9 has a pretty solid CPU (Octa-core) and GPU (Apple GPU 8-core ). It is capable of delivering astonishing performance with really awesome graphics. So no matter what you are using it for, this tablet can handle it. The gaming experience on this tablet will be smooth and flawless. So we definitely recommend you go for this one if gaming is what you have in mind.

You do get a lot of internal memory as you have an option of 2TB. Of course, you can also get a version with 1TB, 512GB, 256GB, or 128GB. It really depends on your personal needs. As far as RAM goes you have an option of 8GB or 16GB of RAM. Both are appropriate for all sorts of tasks. However, for heavy gaming, we do recommend you seek out a version with 16GB of RAM.

Camera

You will also be able to take pretty good photos with a 12 MP main camera with dual-pixel PDAF. In addition, you will also get a 10 MP ultrawide camera and a TOF 3D LiDAR scanner for accurate depth measurement. As far as video goes you can make 4K videos at various fps (24/25/30/60fps). In general, the camera capabilities are very good although there is some room for improvement.

Battery

Apple iPad Pro 12.9 has a pretty decent Li-Po (40.88 Wh) battery. it is of course non-removable, which means you won’t be able to replace it with a new one. However, it can be charged very quickly thanks to a fast 18W charger.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a very good new tablet which you can use for work and free time, then this is the tablet for you. You can basically do whatever you want with this tablet. From gaming to long movie nights and all to video and photo editing. You are only limited by your imagination.
